Typography

Typefaces and how they are presented are as important to Cornell’s identity as the use of color, graphics and photography. Clean, well-spaced typography is what distinguishes professional print and digital communications. Arts & Sciences departments can use both A&S fonts and Cornell fonts. Some of these fonts are available through Adobe Fonts while others such as Palatino need to be purchased.

Arts & Sciences typefaces

Gibson is the primary typeface for the college and has a few variations in weight (thin, regular, semibold, bold, black). It can be used for headlines and running text.

We use FreightMicro Pro as an accent typeface, primarily for subheads, footnotes etc., to offer some variety and contrast to the main typeface. Being harder to read, avoid using it as running text.
