The overall Cornell Expressive Activity policy 4.23 can be found here.
For poster activities within facilities of the College of Arts & Sciences, anyone displaying posters must follow these guidelines:
- Posters, fliers, banners, etc… cannot be affixed to surfaces other than publicly available bulletin boards. Prohibited areas include doors, windows, walls, floors, exterior facades, etc…. Materials of any nature in these locations are subject to immediate removal. The only exception to this prohibition is on doors to a private (not shared) office where the occupant of that office curates the surface of their door as their individual expressive outlet.
- Any bulletin board not specifically labeled for a departmental purpose can be assumed to be publicly available.
- To ensure continued access for expressive display, college staff may remove posters after two weeks as needed to ensure room for future posters. Posters advertising events of a certain date may be removed following the date of the advertised event. Fliers should contain the date of the posting, otherwise staff will use their best judgement about how long a poster has been up for removal.
- Pins/tacks should be used. Tape and staples are not permitted.
Information about bulletin board locations and availability within a specific facility should be sought from that facility’s Building Coordinator. Contacts for each building can be searched here via the name of the facility.
